A lovely, classic vessel, WITCHCRAFT was designed by B. B. Crowninshield and built by the highly regarded Lawley yard in 1903 as a gaff-topsail sloop. She was intended to be a fast cruiser and originally sailed on Lake Champlain. In the early 1970s, she was purchased by her current owner, a knowledgeable shipwright who devoted the next 20-plus years to preserving WITCHCRAFT and giving her a thorough restoration from the keel up. This involved a complete structural rebuild with careful planning and attention to detail such as period hardware, etc. In 1929, WITCHCRAFT was converted from a gaff sloop to a marconi yawl, and she is currently being sailed as a sloop with 3 headsails. The owner is an accomplished craftsman, and WITCHCRAFT is a testament to his abilities. We feel that she can be well recommended for one desiring a true classic and pedigreed vessel from an early period in American yachting and shall be pleased to arrange inspections. Lying: Maryland
